The defending National Champions are heading back into the postseason, but first up, the Texas Longhorns have to take on the SEC Tournament.

The Horns, who defeated the Texas Tech Red Raiders in last year's World Series, earned the No. 4 seed in this year's conference softball tournament, and with that comes two byes.

After those two byes, however, it doesn't get any easier. In fact, it gets extremely difficult.

Texas SEC Softball Tournament schedule

  • Quarterfinals: No. 4 Texas vs. winner of No. 5 Tennessee vs. [No. 15 Kentucky vs. No. 10 Mississippi State]
  • If Texas wins... Semifinals: No. 4 Texas vs. winner of No. 1 Oklahoma vs. [No. 9 Georgia vs. No. 8 LSU]

In their first game of the SEC Tournament, the Horns will likely face the Tennessee Volunteers, who will be fresh off their second-round game against the winner of the Kentucky Wildcats and Mississippi State Bulldogs' first-round matchup.

Then, if Texas wins its opening game, it will move on to the semifinals, where the Longhorns will likely face none other than the Oklahoma Sooners, who earned the No. 1 seed in the tournament.

OU, which also earned byes through the first two rounds, will play the winner of the LSU Tigers and Georgia Bulldogs' first-round game.

The winner of Texas versus Oklahoma, if those are the two teams to make the semifinal round in their half of the bracket, will move on to the conference championship game. The Alabama Crimson Tide and the Florida Gators, seeded at two and three, respectively, are the other two highest seeds.
