Texas recruiting has been hotter than ever, officially flipping three commits from the Big Ten and ACC since November 13th. This time, they were able to flip Kaden Scherer, an in-state 3-star offensive lineman from Stanford.

The Longhorns managed to flip both TE Charlie Jilek and RB Jett Walker (Scherer's high school teammate at Georgetown HS) from Minnesota recently, and it goes without saying that Walker had a big hand in convincing Scherer to decommit from the Gophers and commit to Texas.

Scherer is a 6'5.5", 285-pound blocker who also had offers from the likes of Texas Tech, Kansas State, and Houston. He was also getting recruited heavily by Virginia over the past few weeks as well.

Scherer is currently ranked as the No.92 IOL recruit for 2026 according to 247Sports' composite rankings. Though he's ranked as interior player, he has the size and length to play offensive tackle at the collegiate level as well.

Depending on his overall skillset and mental acuity, he could end up being a legitimate depth option for the Longhorns at both offensive guard and tackle going forward. His commitment helps bolster Texas' 2026 recruiting class to No.8 in the overall rankings, up one spot from No.9.

It's no secret that the Longhorns' offensive line has been struggling in 2025, though they've definitely been playing better over the past few weeks since they made a personnel change on the interior.

Kaden Scherer joins John Turntine III, Max Wright, and Nicolas Robertson to bring the OL number up to four for the upcoming recruiting cycle.
