With a commitment from four-star quarterback Neimann Lawrence already in their back pocket, the Texas Longhorns are now working toward landing yet another blue-chip prospect from the class of 2028.

Already, the Horns and head coach Steve Sarkisian are reportedly trending in the right direction for five-star wide receiver Brysen Wright, the No. 1 overall recruit and one of the most highly-coveted prospects in the class.

Of course, Wright's collegiate career is still a couple of years away, but the Longhorns and a slew of other powerhouse programs are already looking in his direction. Recent reports have already shared that he's thinking about which program fits him best.

"We’re looking for something he wants to be part of. Proof of concept is more important than the recruiting things people do," Wright's father said, according to Rivals' Steve Wiltfong.

Handful of teams already stand out to Brysen Wright

Along with his father's message, Wiltfong reported that a few teams already stand out for the four-star wideout: the Miami Hurricanes, the Florida State Seminoles, the Florida Gators, the Ohio State Buckeyes, and the Texas Longhorns.

Additionally, Wiltfong shared that he believes the Longhorns are one of the frontrunners of that group at this point in Wright's recruitment journey.

"I have Texas as one of the favorites for Brysen Wright," Wiltfong said.

A native of Jacksonville, FL, it should be no surprise that the three in-state powerhouses are in the mix for Wright's attention. However, it should also come as no surprise that the Horns (and the Buckeyes, I suppose) are also putting in an early effort to lure Wright in their direction.

As the No. 1 overall prospect, Wright cemented himself as the No. 1 wideout and the No. 1 recruit out of Florida for the class of 2028.

During his sophomore season, he played on both sides of the ball, earning snaps at both wide receiver and defensive back. While playing in the secondary, he earned 63 total tackles, five pass deflections, and five interceptions for a resounding three touchdowns and 256 yards, but his truly notable stats came at wideout.

At wideout, Wright has already played two seasons at the varsity level, racking up a combined 1,629 receiving yards for 18 touchdowns through the air, as well as 35 rushing yards and even a completed pass attempt for three more all-purpose yards.

Over the last two seasons, he also attempted nine punt and kick returns, racking up a final 303 yards for his resume so far.

And, what would pair better with the No. 1 wide receiver in the recruiting class than a blue-chip quarterback like Lawrence, who is already committed to the Longhorns?

Of course, with two years of high school football still ahead of him, there is still a lot of time left in his recruitment, but already getting a step ahead of the competition is a great sign for Sarkisian and his staff as they work to land yet another top-tier recruiting class.
