For yet another year, the Texas Longhorns and head coach Steve Sarkisian have landed a blue-chip quarterback in the recruiting cycle.

From Arch Manning to KJ Lacey to Dia Bell, the Horns have been on a hot streak, and now, Texas has received a commitment from four-star quarterback Neimann Lawrence.

Lawrence, the No. 6 quarterback in the class of 2028, chose the Longhorns over a horde of dominant programs, including the Miami Hurricanes, Ohio State Buckeyes, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Michigan Wolverines, and more.

Simply put, Sarkisian and the Horns are building a new QBU on the 40 Acres, and Lawrence is the latest addition to one of the best quarterback rooms out there, if not the best one in the entire country.

Three years ago, Manning was the No. 1 quarterback in the class of 2023 and committed to Texas as a five-star prospect. Two years later, Lacey committed to the Horns as a four-star recruit and a top-15 quarterback in the class of 2025.

Bell, who joined the Longhorns this offseason, was the No. 4 quarterback in the class of 2026 and was yet another five-star prospect to commit to Texas. Now, Lawerence is coming to the 40 Acres as the latest in a long line of elite quarterbacks to suit up in burnt orange.

“Everything's BIGGER in Texas!” Lawerence said when he committed to the Horns.

At 6-foot-1 and 210 pounds, the rising senior is already built like a college quarterback. For comparison, Manning is 6-foot-4 and just under 220 pounds. So, with another two years of high school football on the horizon, Lawerence could easily boast the frame of an elite quarterback at the collegiate level.

Lawrence started for his varsity team as a freshman in high school. He earned a whopping 2,777 passing yards for 32 touchdowns and just one interception. Then, he transferred to a more competitive district, but his numbers didn't slow down.

During his sophomore season, he racked up 1,971 passing yards for another 32 touchdowns, and once again threw a minimal one interception. Over his first two seasons of high school football, he also earned over 200 rushing yards for an additional five touchdowns.

Lawerence was the first commitment for Texas in the class of 2028, kicking off another incredible recruiting cycle for Sarkisian and his staff.

In the class of 2027, Sarkisian landed a commitment from three-star quarterback Ty Knutson, who isn't technically a blue-chip prospect but shouldn't be ignored as a serious contender to become a starter for the Longhorns.

Currently, the Horns' class of 2027 ranks eighth in the nation and fourth in the SEC, but with a slew of commitments expected to come in over the weekend, Texas should expect to see both its national and conference rankings skyrocket.
