ESPN doesn't hold back when it comes to how the Longhorns' have "won" the offseason.

It's no secret that Texas has had one of the best offseasons in all of college football in 2026, specifically when it comes to a personnel or player acquisition standpoint. Though most of the hype was coming from Longhorn Nation to begin with, it quickly spread throughout the college football world after the signing of Cam Coleman in the transfer portal.

Now, ESPN just released its offseason rankings for all Power 4 college football teams, and Texas is sitting at the top of the SEC.

With the Longhorns adding players like Hollywood Smothers, Raleek Brown, Cam Coleman, Melvin Siani, and Rasheem Biles over the past few months, it's hard not to give them the top spot.

Steve Sarkisian and Co. did an excellent job of diagnosing everything that went wrong in 2025, and allocated all of their resources to fixing those issues this offseason.

ESPN makes sure to highlight the coaching additions of Will Muschamp and Blake Gideon on defense, which should hopefully go a long way in improving a defense that took a fairly large step back in 2025 despite still being ranked in the upper echelon for most of the year.

For whatever reason, the Longhorns had an incredibly tough time stopping the run last season, which allowed teams to convert crucial third-downs all year long. The additions of NT Ian Geffrard, LB Rasheem Biles, and Muchamp's attacking-style scheme should go a long way in improving that area this year.

Offensively, Texas has completely revamped the offensive line room, which was one of the team's top weaknesses in 2025, along with drops by the receivers. As long as Arch Manning stays upright and his pass-catchers are more efficient than they were last year, it's over for the rest of the SEC in 2026.
