Steve Sarkisian and the Texas football program are primed to have yet another dominant season as they approach their second year in the SEC. With the No. 1 recruiting class of 2025 and a slate of returning stars, the Longhorns are not lacking in talent.
However, even the Horns aren't immune to the highs and lows of the transfer portal, and as the spring portal opens, the roster will not look quite the same after the 10-day stretch.
The 2025 spring transfer portal opened on Tuesday, April 15, and will close on Friday, April 25. Before the portal even officially opened, Sarkisian had already secured his first transfer commitment of the offseason.
Which Longhorns have entered the spring transfer portal?
- Reece Beauchamp - Redshirt junior - Wide receiver
- Freddie Dubose - Redshirt freshman - Wide receiver
- Reid Watkins - Redshirt freshman - Running back
- Bert Auburn - Senior - Kicker
- Malik Agbo - Redshirt junior - Offensive lineman
Who has committed to Texas from the spring transfer portal?
- Emmett Mosley V - Freshman - Wide receiver - from Stanford
Last season, Mosley was a star as a true freshman for the Stanford Cardinal. He brought in 48 receptions for 525 yards and six touchdowns through the air as well as six yards on 12 carries. He joins the Horns with three years of eligibility remaining.
How does the spring transfer portal work?
The spring transfer portal remains open for 10 days. In that stretch, players at any program are able to enter their name into the portal. Players do not have to commit to their next program within that 10-day window.
In the SEC, players are not allowed to transfer to a program within the conference. For example, Beauchamp will not be able to transfer to another SEC team after entering the portal from Texas.
