A 35-10 clobbering was exactly as embarrassing as it looks on paper. However, while the Longhorns were pummeled by the Georgia Bulldogs, once again, there was a little more to the game than everyone let on.
No, Texas can't turn the blame onto anyone else; the Horns blew their chances to prove that they deserved a place in the College Football Playoffs. However, there were a handful of missed or incorrect calls that could have at least made the game close.
Most of the missed calls that tilted the game further in the Bulldogs' direction came at the line of scrimmage, and they greatly changed the outcome of those very drives.
Did the officials skew the Texas-Georgia game?
There were three major calls in the game that were blatantly incorrect, and two of them involved Texas's most elite pass rushers: Colin Simmons and Anthony Hill Jr.
1. Missed holding on Colin Simmons
As Simmons flew toward Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton, he suddenly got held up, something that hardly ever happens for the powerhouse linebacker. When a replay aired on the broadcast, it was readily apparent that a Georgia offensive lineman held Simmons back.
The lineman quite literally had his arms wrapped around Simmons' neck and chest, preventing him from getting to Stockton in the backfield.
The refs have called Texas for 3 holding penalties so far but somehow miss this against Georgia… pic.twitter.com/cIVC4l2qqs

Despite the Horns' already having three holding calls against them, no flag was thrown on this play, and just like that, the Bulldogs' drive continued.
2. Missed holding call against Joenel Aguero
Georgia defensive back Joenel Aguero was credited with shutting down DeAndre Moore Jr. when Manning targeted him on a third-down attempt.
What Aguero wasn't credited with was defensive holding after he had clearly clung to Moore as he tried to make his way downfield during the passing play.

Agureo clearly prevented Moore from getting to the spot he needed to get to on his route, and the result of the play was the Longhorns not even being within range to attempt a field goal.
3. Holding call against Anthony Hill Jr.
Hill had a relatively productive night, just like Simmons did, but their nights weren't quite good enough.
However, as the linebacker covered Georgia tight end Luckie Lawson in the end zone, he was called for defensive holding, despite making the most minimal contact possible. Even ESPN analyst Bill LeMonnier said that the call was questionable.
The call was confirmed, and instead of the Bulldogs having to convert on 2nd-and-goal, they had an entirely new set of downs on the four-yard line. Stockton immediately connected with wideout Noah Thomas, and Georgia was up 14-3 in the blink of an eye.
No, Texas didn't come anywhere close to beating Georgia, and they were very far from deserving the win. However, the officiating sure didn't help, and the evidence clearly shows that.
