It is nearly time for the second season of Arch Manning's tenure as the starting quarterback for the Texas Longhorns. However, with an offseason that included a preventative surgery, fans haven't been entirely sure when they will see their QB1 take the field again.

Now, with Manning reportedly out of his walking boot and spring practices right around the corner, the Horns are ready to return to the field, with Manning (hopefully) leading the way.

While Manning's timetable to return is still up in the air, the Longhorns are now less than a week away from their first spring practice session, and fans should be as excited as ever to see their team back in action:

Texas spring practice schedule

  • Camp opens: March 9
  • Spring game/camp ends: April 18

Last year, of course, head coach Steve Sarkisian and athletic director Chris Del Conte announced that the Horns would not host their annual Orange-White spring scrimmage for fans to attend.

Instead, Texas hosted a fair on the grounds surrounding Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium, and on the field itself. This year, that's set to change again.

Are the Texas Longhorns playing a spring football game?

Earlier this year, Del Conte announced the return of Texas's beloved spring football game, sharing that it would take place at DKR on April 18, concluding the Longhorns' spring practices.

Each year, spring practices are the first glimpse that anyone outside of a program gets into who could be in the starting lineup and which positions are set to become the biggest battles over the summer and heading into the fall season.

While Manning has obviously cemented himself as the Horns' QB1, there are a lot of positions that are going to be fought over as Texas and Sarkisian prepare for their third year in the SEC and a hopeful return to the College Football Playoff.
