The second day of the 2025 NFL Draft has arrived, and already, three Longhorns have heard their names called and their childhood dreams come true.
Last night, offensive tackle Kelvin Banks Jr., defensive back Jahdae Barron, and wide receiver Matthew Golden were all selected in the first round. Now, it's time for the second and third rounds, and a lot more Longhorns could find themselves in the NFL.
Both the second and third rounds include 32 picks apiece, with each NFL team earning a selection per round (before any trades take place). So, that's 64 opportunities in which former Texas stars could hear their names.
Alfred Collins was a monster for the Longhorns on the defensive side of the ball last season. The fifth-year Longhorn earned 55 tackles (27 solo), six pass deflections, one sack, and one forced fumble last season as he tore through Texas's SEC opponents.
Cameron Williams was slightly outshone by the dominance of fellow offensive tackle Kelvin Banks Jr., who was drafted ninth overall last night by the New Orleans Saints. However, Williams has an extremely high ceiling and will undeniable have success at the next level.
Wideout Isaiah Bond has had some off-the-field noise happen in his personal life this year, but the former Alabama receiver turned Texas star is ready for the NFL. On 34 receptions, Bond earned an astonishing 540 yards and five touchdowns last season. In most mock drafts, he is ranked as the No. 13 wide receiver in the draft class.
Andrew Mukuba transferred to Texas after starting his career with the Clemson Tigers. During his singular season with the Horns, Mukuba was slightly overshadowed by Jahdae Barron, who won the Jim Thorpe Award and was drafted 20th overall by the Denver Broncos. However, he still amassed 69 total tackles, six pass deflections, five interceptions, and one forced fumble for the Longhorns.
Gunnar Helm had flown under the radar during his first few years at Texas, but during the 2025-25 season, he became an absolute star and a go-to guy for quarterback Quinn Ewers. Last year, he earned 60 receptions for 786 yards and a jaw-dropping seven touchdowns, turning him into one of the most desirable tight ends in the class.
Quarterback Quinn Ewers has had a lot of question marks hovering around him over the last few years. From injuries to questionable in-game decisions, everyone isn't sold on Ewers. However, as the third round unfolds, Texas fans shouldn't be surprised to hear the name of their three-year starting QB.
