On Friday, former Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy was taken down by one of his own teammates, tight end Travis Kelce, and had to exit the Kansas City Chiefs' first game of the season, less than two minutes after kickoff.

Immediate speculation was that Worthy had dislocated his shoulder during the collision with Kelce, which was later confirmed by NFL analyst Ian Rapoport. Today, Rapoport shared that Andy Reid had officially labeled Worthy as "day-to-day."

Rapoport also shared that it sounded like the Chiefs were leaning toward putting Worthy in a brace as they continued to work and rehab the shoulder, which is a sign they aren't immediately thinking that surgery is necessary for the young wideout.

While it isn't perfect news, it is a good sign that Worthy's injury might not have been as drastic as some viewers originally expected.

Before exiting Kansas City's season opener against the Los Angeles Chargers, Worthy had been targeted just one time and was unable to bring down the reception. He and Kelce crossed paths while both running slant routes across the field.

After heading to the sideline, Worthy was seen being tended to by medical staff, who were seemingly working to relocate his shoulder. He did not re-enter the game after being seen on the sidelines. The Chargers ended up securing a 27-21 victory over Kansas City.

As a rookie last season, Worthy quickly became a star for the Chiefs, earning 925 yards and nine touchdowns on 78 receptions, including two touchdowns against the Philadelphia Eagles in his first-ever Super Bowl performance.

This week, the Chiefs will get a rematch with the Eagles when they host Philadelphia on Sunday, Sept. 14. Currently listed as questionable, it is unknown whether Worthy will be healthy enough to play in the Week 2 matchup or not.
