The Texas Longhorns finally pulled the trigger on dismissing athletic director Steve Patterson. The highly criticized AD spent only 22 months at the helm of Texas athletics, but during that time he managed to upset more than his fair share of people.
Considering how much of a ruckus the news made, here’s a collection of reactions from both current and former Texas Longhorns players, as well as national media members.
Texas sophomore wide receiver Armanti Foreman wasn’t shy about his feelings on Patterson.
I ain't really like him anyway ... ✌🏾️

Senior wide receiver Marcus Johnson pointed out how much change his class has endured.
Pretty sure my class has been through some of the most change within a 3 year period of any sports program.
— Marcus Johnson (@Mojomdj) September 15, 2015
Senior defensive end Bryce Cottrell had a similar thought, as he summed up Texas’ last four years pretty well.
2 Presidents, 2 ADs, 2 Head coaches, 4 OCs 3 Position coaches 3 DCs...... Talk about a wild 4 years...

Meanwhile, former Longhorns linebacker Emmanuel Acho reminded fans about the hefty amount of money remaining on Patterson’s contract.
So #Texas will pay the athletic director 5.6 million to fire him, but the athletes can't get paid?? #TwitterQuestions #MackBrownForAD
— Emmanuel Acho (@EmmanuelAcho) September 15, 2015
Former linebacker Keenan Robinson shared a similar opinion.
Good thing he made all of those budget cuts. He must've known something was up https://t.co/gDDgWKxjF6

Then came the Mack Brown train, as former players like Emmanuel Acho, Kenny Vaccaro, Kasey Studdard and Quandre Diggs all suggested that Mack become the next Texas AD.
Somebody start a petition!!! #MackBrownForAD https://t.co/WTgUizNT0a

@ESPN_CoachMack for AD
— G1 Savage (@kennyvaccaro) September 15, 2015
I agree with @KennyVaccaro4, @ESPN_CoachMack for new AD. Please let this happen

Coach Brown been prepping for this day for a long time! He's the man for the job! @ESPN_CoachMack For AD!
— Nino (@qdiggs6) September 15, 2015
But if Coach Brown comes back he BETTER keep Coach Strong or I'll be starting another campaign!
— Nino (@qdiggs6) September 15, 2015
Former Longhorns running back Ricky Williams had a different suggestion that ESPN‘s Kirk Herbstreit also suggested.
Hope this means my boy @UT_Bianco is coming back. I hope they don't hire pancake guy that's Bianco's job, he deserves it!
— Ricky Williams (@Rickthelaureate) September 15, 2015
Now that Texas got rid of their AD can somebody do the right thing & bring back the best SID in CFB John Bianco?!? Why was he let go again?

Brian Davis of the Austin American-Statesman shared some insight into how a Texas employee feels about the program, which is a truly fitting summary of Texas’ situation.
One prominent Texas employee sums it up: "This is embarrassing. We are a joke."

Another frustrated Texas employee shared their thoughts with Mike Finger of the Express News/Houston Chronicle.
Comment from a frustrated athletic dept employee that sums up Steve Patterson era: "We're not Texas anymore. We're Arizona State."

Laura Skelding of the Austin American-Statesman caught UT president Gregory Fenves as he was leaving his office. He may have offered no comment on the firing of Patterson, but his smile says it all.
