Longhorns Recruiting News: Denzel Okafor Pushes Back Decision
In Longhorns recruiting news, offensive lineman Denzel Okafor has decided to push back his decision, while a report from 247Sports suggests that Texas might be in the mix for recent Oklahoma State verbal commit, Jonathan Marshall.
With skill-position players a plenty in the state of Texas, quality offensive linemen tend to cause quite the stir on the recruiting trail. Especially when a pair of in-state powers like Texas and TCU are both in hot pursuit of a player, that ups the attention even more.

Lewisville, Texas, standout Denzel Okafor is well aware of that fact and could make one of these programs very happy this fall. The 6-foot-4, 293 pound lineman did originally say that he wanted to make a decision by either the last week of August or the early part of September, but it now sounds like he will push back his decision.
Considering that Okafor wants to see how the Longhorns start the season, the news bodes well for Texas. Okafor told Bleacher Report’s Damon Sayles that he grew up a fan of Texas and likes the direction coach Strong has the program heading towards. Hopefully the Horns start the season off with a win and can solidify commitments from recruits like Okafor.
According to EJ Holland of 247Sports (Horns247 subscription required), a source has said that “Texas is starting to get in the mix for Shepherd defensive end Jonathan Marshall”, who actually verbally committed to Oklahoma State on Wednesday.

If this source is true, Marshall would instantly become a sought after target for the Longhorns. The one time TCU commit, now Oklahoma State commit, is the No. 20 ranked strong-side defensive end in the country, and would be a nice addition to the Longhorns’ 2016 class.
In other Longhorns recruiting news, four-star cornerback Eric Cuffee of Waco, Texas, made an unofficial visit to Texas A&M this past weekend. Cuffee has visited UT a number of times this summer and remains high on the Longhorns’ wish list.
Another undecided player who will make an official visit to Texas later on this fall is Beaumont Central running back Devwah Whaley. The Beaumont, Texas, native will make an official visit to Georgia on September 18, but is yet to announce his official visit date to Texas. Whaley also plans to make official visits to Oklahoma, Arkansas and Texas A&M.
