Brenen Thompson, WR

The highest-rated skill position commit currently in the Longhorns 2022 class is the speedy and elusive four-star Spearman (TX) athlete/wide receiver Brenen Thompson. This west Texas native and high school track star could be a threat to make an immediate impact in the Longhorns receiving corps as soon as the 2022 season.

Depending on how fast Thompson is able to translate his game from playing 3A high school football to playing in the Power Five with Texas next season, Sark could trust him to make an early impact. Thompson is also someone who could be a really potent target in the passing game for Ewers. He definitely has the makings of a speedy threat on the outside that could be a star early in his college career.

The idea of playing with the likes of freshman breakthrough star wide receiver Xavier Worthy, redshirt sophomore Jordan Whittington, Thompson, and whoever else joins Texas heading into the offseason, should appeal in a big way to Ewers. There’s a ton of young and potent talent in this receiving corps, and more could be to come soon.

Thompson is definitely one of the fastest wide receivers that Ewers could play with anywhere. If you’re comparing Texas to other potential landing spots for Ewers out of the transfer portal in terms of speed in the receiving corps, no one else can really bring to the table what the Longhorns do with Worthy, Whittington, and Thompson.
