Texas Women's Basketball traveled to Athens, GA, to take on the Georgia Bulldogs. This was after it was announced today the Longhorns are the new top team in the country. It's the first time in 21 years that the Longhorns have been number one in women's college basketball.

Would you expect the Longhorns to live up to that top ranking against the Bulldogs tonight? The team didn't show up again until the third quarter. They only led the Bulldogs by four at halftime, which is surprising.

Even though the Longhorns' shooting was poor against the Bulldogs, they still beat them 57-26 to keep their win streak alive. I went on social media at halftime, and some Longhorns fans were displeased with how the Longhorns performed in the first half of the game.

Georgia is second to last in the SEC Conference this season, and Texas should have had the game over at halftime. Instead, the Longhorns allowed them to be within reach of their lead for most of the night. Texas was not the Longhorns team that beat South Carolina, Kentucky, and LSU in a row.

Before we get to the three takeaways of the game, congrats to Texas Women's Basketball on being the new No. 1 team in the country. They have exceeded expectations in their first season in the SEC Conference. That probably has to do with Vic Schaefer's tenure at Mississippi State.

My only worry is they let it go to their heads and that an unranked team beats them heading into the SEC Tournament. Here are the three takeaways from tonight's win against the Bulldogs in Athens.

Takeaways from Texas women's basketball's win over Georgia: 3. Bad first-half performance

The one thing that concerned me about tonight's game was that it wasn't a blowout at halftime. When you play one of the teams at the bottom of the conference, the score difference should be more than 20.

The number one team in the country should have their backup players midway through the third quarter. It just doesn't look good for the recently ranked team in the nation. Georgia deserves credit for making it a game, but I expected better from the Longhorns tonight.

2. Another bad night for Booker

I was surprised that Booker struggled against Georgia in the first half. Booker usually quickly destroys these teams and has a nice stat line at halftime. Booker finished the game 3-13 with seven points. This should worry Schaefer a bit, as the regular season ends shortly.

If Booker has a bad night during the SEC Tournament or March Madness, it could eliminate the Longhorns in either tournament. It's a storyline that's going to be followed closely next month.

1. Dominated the boards tonight

The Longhorns escaped Athens with a win over the Bulldogs, winning the battle on the boards. They out-rebounded the Bulldogs 40-23 tonight, helping them control the game's tempo and keep the Bulldogs from pulling off the upset.

Texas was lucky the Bulldogs weren't hungry enough to pull off a shocking upset tonight. The Longhorns travel to Mississippi to take on Schaefer's old team, the Mississippi State Bulldogs, on Thursday night.
