Just three weeks ago, Kyron Brown didn't even have an official offer from the Texas Longhorns to his name.

Now, the three-star wide receiver and in-state prospect has committed to the Horns, 20 days after receiving that highly coveted offer and less than two weeks after his official (and only) visit to the 40 Acres.

"Austin felt like home no matter what I did or where I went," Brown told Rivals about his decision. "The players and coaches were really cool people who just want the best for themselves. That’s an environment I’m looking forward to surrounding myself with."

Alongside the fact that he knew the Horns' home in Austin felt like where he belonged, when he committed to Texas, he expressed that he understood just how much it means to wear burnt orange and white.

"Being a Longhorn isn’t about the logo you wear; it’s about the grit and dedication, the determination to always be the best no matter who’s against you," Brown said. "They preach that, and that excites me for the future."

3-star WR Kyron Brown knows Texas is as 'elite' as anywhere else

Throughout his recruiting process, he took multiple visits to the Kansas State Wildcats, who were initially projected as the frontrunners to land his commitment, as well as trips to see the Northwestern Wildcats and Texas Tech Red Raiders.

Arguably underrated as a three-star prospect in the class of 2027, Brown received offers from just 16 programs across the country. Despite continual interest expressed by both Wildcats, as soon as Texas extended an offer, it looked like everything changed for the wideout.

Texas officially offered Brown on June 3, and he took his official visit to Austin over the weekend of June 12, which was the second of three consecutive OV weekends for the Horns.

"Texas is an elite program in the best college conference, so being able to be a part of that is really cool and a huge blessing," Brown said. "Texas shows real love and interest, and the vision is clear and sits right with me. Texas has been recruiting me heavily, calling every day, texts, and more."

Over the last few years, the Longhorns and head coach Steve Sarkisian have produced top receiver talent again and again. From Xavier Worthy to Matthew Golden to Jordan Whittington, the talent coming out of Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium has been undeniable.

Now, Brown will be part of that legacy, continuing the argument that Texas lays claim to the nickname "WRU" over anybody else in the country.

Brown was the 18th commitment in Texas's class of 2027, joining fellow wide receivers Easton Royal and Briceson Thrower, as well as tight end Brock Williams and more than a dozen other highly promising prospects from the recruiting cycle.

With Brown's commitment, Texas's group of prospects remained No. 7 in the country and No. 4 in the SEC rankings. However, with more prospects expected to head in the Longhorns' direction, those numbers would likely see an improvement over the next few weeks.
