Steve Sarkisian has already earned a commitment from Easton Royal, the No. 2 wide receiver in the class of 2027, but suddenly, it seems as though he and the Texas Longhorns are also creeping toward the front of the race for the No. 1 WR in the class: Monshun Sales.
After an unofficial visit to Texas this week, Sales told On3 that the Horns had entered his top five, clearly trending in the right direction as his recruitment progresses.
Even Royal has chimed in with his thoughts on Texas, putting in his own effort to bring the fellow five-star wideout to Austin.
On3's Hayes Fawcett shared that during his unofficial visit, Sales "locked in an [official visit] to Texas June 5-7," making the Longhorns just the fifth program to earn an OV with the young wideout.
Monshun Sales adds Longhorns to OV list
- Indiana Hoosiers, April 24
- Alabama Crimson Tide, May 29
- Texas Longhorns, June 5
- Ohio State Buckeyes, June 12
- Miami Hurricanes, June 16
Sales will also take official visits to see the Indiana Hoosiers (his in-state team), the Alabama Crimson Tide (On3's current frontrunner for his commitment), the Ohio State Buckeyes, and the Miami Hurricanes.
The trip to Austin this week was the young wide receiver's first time visiting the Longhorns, and the quick turnaround to book an official visit is a great sign for Sarkisian and the Horns.

While Sales obviously has four other official visits ahead of him, there's something special about an OV to Texas, whether it's the culture, the winning history, the people, or the Lamborghinis.
It will be nearly two months until Sales returns to Austin, but during that time, Sarkisian and his staff can continue working their magic to land the No. 1 wideout in the upcoming recruiting class, giving the Longhorns the top pair of receivers in the cycle.
Beyond Royal, who committed to Texas in November of last year, the Horns have received seven other commitments from the class of 2027.
Texas Longhorns football recruiting class of 2027
- Easton Royal, five-star wide receiver
- Cameron Hall, four-star EDGE
- Keyon Hemphill-Woods, three-star interior offensive lineman
- Greedy James, three-star safety
- Cade Haug, three-star linebacker
- Ty Knutson, three-star quarterback
- JT Geraci, three-star tight end
- Jackson Cook, three-star interior offensive lineman
Currently, Sarkisian's class of 2027 ranks No. 11 in the country, just behind the Oregon Ducks, and fifth in the SEC, just behind the Florida Gators. A commitment from a five-star like Sales could push the Longhorns into the top 10 of the national standings and top three in the conference.
