Just a few days ago, the Texas Longhorns and Texas A&M Aggies were neck-and-neck to land a commitment from four-star running back Landen Williams-Callis, the No. 6 overall prospect out of the Lone Star State.
Now, after a surge of expert predictions, the Horns have stormed to the front of the pack, currently sitting with a 94 percent chance to earn Williams-Callis' commitment, according to On3 and Rivals.
A large part of that percentage is due to the fact that recruiting experts like Justin Wells and Sam Spiegelman have poured in for the Longhorns, the pair projecting that the blue-chip running back will be wearing burnt orange instead of maroon in a year's time.

Of course, it also hasn't hurt that quite a few prospects who are already committed to Texas have started urging Williams-Callis to stay in state and come "home" to the Longhorns.

Williams-Callis is the No. 3 running back in the class of 2027 and the No. 47 overall prospect out of the recruiting cycle, making him a highly coveted recruit. Despite receiving offers from teams across the country like the Oregon Ducks, LSU Tigers, and Alabama Crimson Tide, the running back quickly narrowed his search to Texas and Texas A&M.
Steve Sarkisian has Horns edging out Aggies for Landen Williams-Callis
Just last month, it appeared as though the Longhorns and their rival Aggies were truly split right down the middle for who would land Williams-Callis, but a mid-summer push by Texas and head coach Steve Sarkisian has clearly worked in their favor and to the detriment of Texas A&M.
"Texas Longhorns would be my pick today," Steve Wiltfong, the Vice President of National Recruiting for On3 and Rivals, recently said about where Williams-Callis would end up.
The running back recently shared a few pictures from his official visit to the 40 Acres, which took place over the weekend of June 19. It was his seventh and final OV from the summer, following trips to LSU, the Indiana Hoosiers, the SMU Mustangs, Oregon, the Missouri Tigers, and Texas A&M.

Williams-Callis would join fellow running back Noah Roberts in Texas's recruiting class, creating a dynamic and deep backfield for the future Texas football roster.
Currently, Sarkisian's class of 2027 ranks fifth in the nation and second in the SEC. What is the one team ranked ahead of Texas in the conference? Well, none other than the Aggies. While a commitment from Williams-Callis might not send the Horns sailing past Texas A&M, it could push them up the national rankings.

When it comes to Williams-Callis' recruitment, Sarkisian and the Longhorns are leaving their in-state rivals in the dust, and that is exactly what they need to continue to do.
