With yet another fantastic addition from the transfer portal, the Texas Longhorns and head coach Sean Miller just earned a commitment from Amari Evans.

Evans, who was a four-star shooting guard coming out of high school, just spent his freshman season with none other than the Tennessee Volunteers, led by former Texas head coach Rick Barnes.

Miller desperately needed to rebuild his backcourt, and adding a budding star like Evans to his depth chart is just another step in the right direction for the Horns' head coach.

Amari Evans joins Isaiah Johnson in Texas's backcourt

Evans isn't the first transfer guard to commit to the Longhorns, joining former Colorado Buffaloes point guard Isaiah Johnson, who was one of the first big additions for Miller's roster.

Additionally, former TCU Horned Frogs power forward David Punch joined the ranks as the biggest pickup of Texas's offseason run so far.

When Evans committed, he kept his message on social media simple but clear, "TEXASSSSS," the new Longhorn wrote, adding an orange heart emoji and a "Hook'em" hashtag for good measure.

While the Horns lost stars like Cam Heide to the transfer portal, Dailyn Swain to the NBA Draft, and Jordan Pope to the end of his collegiate eligibility, Miller has done an absolutely fantastic job rebuilding his depth chart through the portal.

Not to mention, the Horns are about to add true-freshmen small forward Austin Goosby (four-star), shooting guard Bo Ogden (four-star), and combo guard Joe Sterling (four-star) to the team.

Texas's class of 2026 ranks No. 13 in the national standings, and Miller's incredible group of transfer additions ranks third in the country.

While the team had departures that hurt, the Longhorns are undeniably primed for a return to the Sweet 16, if not a deeper run in the NCAA Tournament.
