As the Kool-Aid Man would say... "Oh, yeah!"
Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns just received a commitment from four-star defensive lineman Tyler Alexander, a top-35 prospect out of the state of Florida, over the likes of the Georgia Bulldogs, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Colorado Buffaloes, and Florida Gators.
At 6-foot-4 and 315 pounds, Alexander is literally huge, but when he committed, his message to Longhorn nation and the rest of the country was even... bigger.
"Everything is bigger in Texas," Alexander told On3 recruiting expert Hayes Fawcett.
Meredith became the Horns' 17th commitment from the class of 2027, joining other blue-chip prospects like five-star cornerback John Meredith III and fellow four-star defensive lineman Kasi Currie.
Tyler Alexander adds more size to monsterous Texas DL
Alexander and Currie are set to join a group of defensive linemen on the 40 Acres that is already one of the most dominant units in the country, led by assistant coach LaAllan Clark, who has become a critical piece of Sarkisian's recruiting efforts.
Texas has produced stars like current highly touted edge rusher Colin Simmons and defensive tackle Hero Kanu. Prospects like Alexander, Currie, and other recruits in the class of 2027 are just the latest defensive line athletes to commit to the elite group.

Over the summer, Alexander took four official visits, seemingly narrowing his pool of possible landing spots to Texas, Colorado, Georgia, and Notre Dame. He started his visits with a trip to Colorado, followed by one to Georgia and Notre Dame, rounding out his trips with an OV to the Longhorns.
Clearly, his official visits fell into the category of "last but certainly not least" as the Horns made an undeniable impression on the blue-chip defensive lineman, who committed to Texas just a few days after his final OV of the summer.
247Sports' director of scouting, Andrew Ivins, had high praise for Alexander earlier this year, sharing that the defensive lineman already carries his large frame well and "will defeat blocks with his raw power and surprisingly quick hands."
Holding over 300 pounds can be draining for an athlete, but according to Ivins, Alexander can find late energy and could "provide valuable minutes in the middle for a Power Four defense after a short developmental period."
Of course, we now know the Power Four defense he referred to will be none other than that of the Texas Longhorns.

During Alexander's junior season (2025), he earned a whopping 46 tackles (17 solo), 20 tackles for loss, 21 quarterback hurries, and 2.5 sacks, according to MaxPreps.
With Alexander's commitment, Texas's class of 2027 settled at No. 7 in the national rankings and fourth in the SEC, trailing the Texas A&M Aggies, Oklahoma Sooners, and Florida Gators.

At the national level, the Longhorns also trail the Miami Hurricanes, Fighting Irish, and Texas Tech Red Raiders, making Alexander's choice to commit to Texas over Notre Dame an even bigger win for Sarkisian and his staff.
As the commitments continue to pour in for Sarkisian and the Longhorns, Texas will only see that ranking rise in both the conference and national rankings.
