As blue-chip recruits flock to Austin for their official visits with the Texas Longhorns, head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff could already land a commitment before the prospect even sets foot on campus for his own OV.
Just a week ago, Briceson Thrower, a three-star wide receiver, narrowed his list of potential teams to two: the Horns and the Illinois Fighting Illini. Now, Thrower is just a day away from announcing his commitment.
For now, Thrower is scheduled to make his official visit to the 40 Acres in two weeks' time, and is actually scheduled to take an OV to Illinois just one week earlier.
3-star WR Briceson Thrower sets decision day
Despite the two official visits on the horizon, Thrower scheduled his decision day for Saturday, June 6, during the Longhorns' first weekend of official visits of the season.
Thrower is from Texas, and as the singular in-state team left in the running, it should come as no surprise that the Horns are the projected frontrunner to land his commitment. Now, Sarkisian could see just how big his team's recruiting lead was.
The young wideout is the No. 58 wide receiver in the class of 2027 and the No. 53 prospect out of Texas, earning him offers from across the country, including the Texas A&M Aggies and the Oklahoma Sooners, who the Longhorns were pleased to see crossed off Thrower's list.

So far, Sarkisian has landed just 11 commitments from the class of 2027, but the group ranks 14th in the country and fifth in the SEC.
Texas football recruiting class of 2027
Of course, with the recruits still a year removed from graduating high school, the entire makeup of the class could change, especially with other programs working to flip a handful of Texas's top recruits.
- Easton Royal, five-star wide receiver
- Brock Williams, four-star tight end
- Cameron Hall, four-star EDGE
- Derwin Fields, four-star EDGE
- Noah Roberts, four-star running back
- Keyon Hemphill-Woods, three-star interior offensive lineman
- Greedy James, three-star safety
- Cade Haug, three-star linebacker
- Ty Knutson, three-star quarterback
- JT Geraci, three-star tight end
- Jackson Cook, three-star interior offensive lineman
As part of this weekend's official visit, four recruits who are already committed to Texas will be in town: tight end Brock Williams, running back Noah Roberts, and edge rushers Cam Hall and Derwin Fields.
Alongside those four commits, Texas is set to host eight other prospects, including Texas Tech commits Jalen Brewster and Jhadyn Nelson, who both have yet to officially shut down their recruitments.
