As Steve Sarkisian and Joey McGuire hash out... whatever is going on between the two head coaches, prospects haven't slowed their interest in either the Texas Longhorns or the Texas Tech Red Raiders.
That includes Jalen Brewster, a five-star defensive lineman who has been committed to the Red Raiders for eight months.
Despite his commitment, Brewster just put the entire Texas Tech program on notice, scheduling a last-minute official visit with the Longhorns.
Brewster is the No. 1 recruit in the state of Texas, the No. 1 defensive lineman in the recruiting cycle, and the No. 1 overall prospect in the class of 2027. Now, he's heading back to Austin for more time with the Horns.
Jalen Brewster set to join Jhadyn Nelson in Austin
The five-star defensive lineman isn't the only Texas Tech commit visiting Texas this weekend for an official visit. Brewster will join four-star linebacker and fellow Red Raiders commit Jhadyn Nelson, who has had his visit to Austin planned for quite a while.
On the other side of the coin, Texas won't be the only program that Brewster will have taken an official visit to this summer, taking an OV to Baton Rouge to see Lane Kiffin and the LSU Tigers just last week.

However, Sarkisian and the Longhorns did land Brewster's visit instead of the Florida Gators, a team that has re-emerged as a problem for everyone on the recruiting trail since Jon Sumrall took over the program.

Brewster, despite growing up just a few hours from the Longhorns' home in Austin, has actually taken the most visits to the Oklahoma Sooners, making five trips to Norman. His OV to Texas this weekend will be his third time visiting Sarkisian and the Horns.
As the No. 1 recruit in the upcoming class, he has received an understandably high level of attention from teams across the country. As of June 4, Brewster had received 25 offers from Division I programs.
When he announced his visit, Brewster became the 12th blue-chip prospect on the list of recruits visiting the Longhorns this weekend.
The now-dozen recruits coming to Austin include four players already committed to the Horns: four-star tight end Brock Williams, four-star edge rusher Cameron Williams, four-star running back Noah Roberts, and four-star defensive lineman Derwin Fields.
