Last week, amid a slew of other blue-chip prospects, four-star edge rusher JaBarrius Garror took his first and only trip to the 40 Acres, making an official visit to the Texas Longhorns.
Now, with only one other official visit on his calendar, Garror scheduled his decision day, announcing he would make his commitment on Friday, June 12.
Garror is set to decide between the Longhorns, who are the unequivocal frontrunners, the Auburn Tigers, the Georgia Bulldogs, and the Florida State Seminoles.
The weekend he is now scheduled to announce his commitment is the very weekend he was scheduled to visit Florida State in Tallahassee.

In other words, things are looking even better for Texas to land the four-star pass rusher for their now-blossoming class of 2027 over the Seminoles, Garror's home-state Tigers, and SEC powerhouse Bulldogs.
Top-100 prospect JaBarrius Garror trending toward Texas
Garror is the No. 93 overall prospect in the class of 2027, ranked as the No. 12 edge rusher and the No. 2 recruit out of the state of Alabama.
As such a highly rated player, he unsurprisingly received attention and offers from across the country, but took the most visits and paid most of his attention to the Alabama Crimson Tide, which was favored to land his commitment until the Longhorns entered the conversation.
Garror took 10 visits to Alabama and seven to Auburn. The other three schools currently in the picture were barely blips on the edge rusher's calendar.
JaBarrius Garror official visits
- Alabama Crimson Tide - 10 unofficial visits, 0 official visits
- Auburn Tigers - 1 official visit, 6 unofficial visits
- Georgia Bulldogs - 1 official visit, 1 unofficial visit
- Texas Longhorns - 1 official visit, 0 unofficial visits
- Florida State Seminoles - 1 official visit, 0 unofficial visits
Now, the Tide isn't even in the running, crossed off Garror's list when he made the cut to the final four teams still in contention.
According to On3 and Rivals' recruiting experts, Texas and head coach Steve Sarkisian have a 90 percent chance to earn Garror's commitment, followed (not so closely) by Auburn, Georgia, and Florida State.
Garror, with another year of high school still ahead of him, is slightly undersized for a collegiate pass rusher, standing at just 6-foot-2 and 215 pounds, according to his recruiting profile. For comparison, the current Texas star edge rusher Colin Simmons is 6-foot-3 and 240 pounds.
However, with another season of varsity football on the horizon, Garror has plenty of time to pack on the pounds, as well as the possibility of growing an inch or two.
If (and odds are when) Garror commits to the Longhorns, he would be the 13th prospect to do so from the class of 2027. Currently, Texas's recruiting class ranks 14th in the nation and fifth in the SEC, but a commitment from a blue-chip prospect like Garror could easily propel it up the rankings.

If you're curious or in need of a reminder, Sarkisian's class of 2026 also ranked fifth in the conference standings but was the No. 10 class in the national rankings. Just one year earlier, the Horns landed the No. 1 overall recruiting class.
