As of now, Easton Royal is the highest-rated prospect in the Texas Longhorns' class of 2027. However, despite committing to the Horns in November, the five-star wide receiver has done virtually nothing other than visit teams across the country.
This weekend, it was more of the same, with Royal taking a trip to Baton Rouge to visit the LSU Tigers.
Over the last couple of days, Royal has shared endless pictures of his visit, from ones in LSU football and track uniforms to one with National Championship-winning head coach turned recruiting assistant Ed Orgeron.

At this point, with Royal stringing the Tigers along, at the very least, it grew increasingly tiring for the Horns to worry if he would flip his commitment, and it might be time for head coach Steve Sarkisian to throw up his hands in surrender.
Easton Royal looks comfortable with the Tigers
While Royal hasn't made any official statements about flipping his commitment, his continuous entertainment of other programs has been far from comforting for Sark and the Longhorns.
At this point, Royal's cross-country recruiting visits have become more of a distraction from the rest of Texas's recruiting class than anything else.
While the Horns obviously don't want to lose Royal, especially since he's the only five-star prospect in Texas's class of 2027 so far, it doesn't feel right to keep pouring this much effort into a recruit who is more than willing to entertain other teams.

LSU head coach Lane Kiffin hasn't just gone after Royal, working to flip multiple recruits from teams across the country, including Longhorn commit and four-star safety Greedy James
So far, Texas has earned 11 commitments from the class of 2027, including Royal's, and the group ranks 13th in the country but only fifth in the SEC. Losing the likes of a commit like Royal or James could be devastating for the Longhorns' recruiting efforts.

At the end of the day, Royal is already committed to the Horns, but if he wants to flip his commitment, it truly feels as though it is more a matter of time than a matter of what Sarkisian or any of his staff do to keep him in their pocket.
Royal has two more official visits on his schedule, including one to see the Florida Gators, and a final OV to Texas, to see the Longhorns once again.
