4-star Justin Wise is eying the Horns with just a few weeks until official visit to Texas

Before even landing an official commitment from the class of 2027, Sean Miller has pushed the Texas Longhorns to the forefront of the recruiting conversation.

Between landing Marcus Spears Jr., who reclassified to 2026, and scheduling official visits with blue-chip prospects like Beckham Black, NaVorro Bowman Jr., and Darius Wabbington, the Horns have become a big-time contender on the recruiting trail.

Most recently, Miller's off-court work was reflected when four-star recruit Justin Wise, the No. 4 shooting guard in the class of 2027, announced his final six schools: the Georgia Bulldogs (his home-state's team), the Miami Hurricanes, the Clemson Tigers, the Tennessee Volunteers, the Vanderbilt Commodores, and the Longhorns.

And, in even better news for Texas, having already visited the Bulldogs, Wise has just four more official visits on his calendar, including a trip to the 40 Acres.

Wise isn't the only top prospect scheduled to visit the Horns this fall, with a slew of four- and five-star recruits packing their bags for official visits to Texas.

• Beckham Black, No. 1 overall, No. 1 point guard - Sept. 9
• Darius Wabbington, No. 14 overall, No. 3 center - Oct. 9 (Texas vs. OU football weekend)
• NaVorro Bowman Jr., No. 12 overall, No. 5 point guard - date TBA

With four official visits already scheduled for this fall, and even more likely to be added to Miller's schedule, the Longhorns are currently poised to bring in yet another top-tier recruiting class.

Texas is fresh off landing the No. 5 recruiting class of 2026, which includes Spears, as well as five-star small forward Austin Goosby, four-star shooting guard Bo Ogden, four-star combo guard Joe Sterling, Lithuanian prospect Mantas Laurencikas, and 6-foot-10 center Coleman Elkins.

Those six true freshmen are joined by five transfer portal additions as the new faces on Miller's roster: power forward David Punch (TCU), point guard Isaiah Johnson (Colorado), small forward Elyjah Freeman (Auburn), shooting guard Amari Evans (Tennessee), and combo guard Mikey Lewis (Saint Mary's).

With the 11 additions to Texas's depth chart, not to mention the return of powerhouse center Matas Vokietaitis, the Horns are undeniably set to be a genuine National Championship contender.

Just last year, despite a rocky performance in the regular season and the SEC Tournament, Miller guided the Longhorns to a Cinderella-esque run through the NCAA Tournament, making it all the way to the Sweet 16 before losing to the Purdue Boilermakers (on a more-than-highly questionable call).

No, scheduling official visits and making the cut for the final six or so schools on a prospect's list aren't guarantees that the Horns will land any of these recruits, but it is impossible to argue that Miller isn't doing everything right at Texas.
