From one visit to another, with one social media post and another, or one rumor going viral, the Texas Longhorns and head coach Steve Sarkisian have been on edge throughout seemingly the entire recruitment process of five-star wide receiver Easton Royal.
Even though Royal committed to the Horns in November of last year, it certainly hasn't felt like the most locked-in commitment of all time.
Royal has taken trips to programs like LSU, Notre Dame, Florida, and more since committing to Texas, and hasn't exactly silenced the rumors that he's going to flip his commitment from the Longhorns to another team.
Instead, his latest social media activity has only added fuel to the now-raging fire.
Lamar Brown, an LSU Tigers commit from the class of 2026, recently tweeted and asked Royal what was taking him so long to flip his commitment. Royal retweeted it with a message that seemed to say it was all a matter of time.
LSU's Lamar Brown working to flip Easton Royal
"What you waiting on? [Easton Royal]. Best In The Boot Stays In The BOOT!" Brown wrote on X, including a Tiger emoji at the end.
Of course, both players grew up in Louisiana, with Royal growing up in New Orleans and Brown growing up in Baton Rouge, the home of the Tigers.
"Mannn," Royal responded, including an hourglass emoji, which everyone took to mean that Brown just needed to wait.
Not exactly a promising post for Sarkisian and the Longhorns to see from their star recruit, who is the highest-rated player currently in Texas's class of 2027.

While Royal is the highest-rated player in the upcoming class, he is far from the only blue-chip prospect in the group, so Texas would be okay if he flipped his commitment.

The loss of Royal's commitment would undeniably put a damper on things in Austin, but it wouldn't be the end of the world and, at this point, wouldn't even come as that big of a surprise.
