Over the lengthy history of the Texas Longhorns football program, high-caliber recruits from all over the country have flocked to the 40 Acres to don burnt orange and play for the Horns.

However, out of the 49 non-Lone Star States, a few have stood out among the rest as genuine pipelines for the Horns on the recruiting trail.

Whether it be because of the number of recruits to commit to Texas out of the state or the level of talent to join the program, these three states have undeniably become go-to hunting grounds for the Longhorns, and will hopefully remain as such for years to come.

3. California

As one of the biggest and most populous states in the country, it should come as no surprise that California has produced a lot of talent that the Longhorns have been able to snag from the recruiting trail.

Most recently, that has included rising stars like wide receiver DeAndre Moore Jr., five-star edge rusher Richard Wesley, and more. Most notably, it has included legends like wideouts Collin Johnson, who was a go-to target for Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger, and Xavier Worthy, who was a go-to target for Quinn Ewers.

Over the last decade or so, the Longhorns have repeatedly turned to the West Coast giant for blue-chip talent, and so far, it's paying off big time.

2. Louisiana

The state right next door has presented nearly as much talent as the biggest states in the country. Louisiana, despite being a relatively small blip on the nation's population map, has produced some of the most promising high school prospects out there.

However, Texas has had one serious hurdle to contend with when it comes to recruiting out of Louisiana: the LSU Tigers. Yet, the Longhorns have been able to lure a lot of top talent to the 40 Acres out of the border state, and it quickly became a pipeline for the team's recruiting efforts.

Counting beloved legends like defensive linemen Shiro Davis and Malcolm Roach, as well as Steve Sarkisian landing stars like wide receiver Easton Royal, the Horns have brought in a ton of talent from one state over, even while going head-to-head with LSU on the recruiting trail.

1. Florida

Similarly to the other two states on this list, Florida is well known for its high level of talent production. For the Longhorns, it also includes a top program or two to present a hurdle on the recruiting trail: the Florida Gators and the Miami Hurricanes (no, Texas doesn't match up with Florida State too often).

Over the last two decades, Texas football has repeatedly tapped into the Florida recruiting scene to steal top talent out from under the noses of the Gators and the Canes, including stars like defensive back Davante Davis, wide receiver John Burt, and more.

As the world of NIL has blossomed (or, exploded, to be more accurate), Sarkisian has been able to go after top Florida prospects with even more vigor.

In the class of 2026 alone, the Horns landed five-star quarterback Dia Bell, who was the No. 1 prospect out of Florida, four-star running back Derrek Cooper, who was the No. 11 prospect in the state, and four-star defensive lineman James Johnson, who was the No. 16 recruit in FL.

Florida is a powerhouse state for producing top talent on the recruiting trail, and it has just about cemented itself as the No. 1 out-of-state recruiting pipeline for the Texas Longhorns.
