When the Texas Longhorns and head coach Steve Sarkisian landed wide receiver Cam Coleman out of the transfer portal, the internet virtually broke. Well, at least the side of the internet that is deeply invested in college football, the portal, and recruitment.
Since then, highlight reel-worthy practice clips and continuous praise from Sarkisian and the media have hyped up the almost instantaneous connection between Coleman and Texas's starting quarterback, Arch Manning.

Now, in a ranking of the best quarterback-wide receiver duos in the nation, that transfer portal acquisition is already proving to be exactly what Manning needed on offense.
On3's college football top 10 QB/WR duos
On3's JD Pickell ranked the 10 best quarterback-receiver duos. With the addition of Coleman to the Texas wideout room, the Longhorns earned their place among the very best.
- Julian Sayin and Jeremiah Smith - Ohio State Buckeyes
- Darian Mensah and Malachi Toney - Miami Hurricanes
- Arch Manning and Cam Coleman - Texas Longhorns
- Dante Moore and Dakorien Moore - Oregon Ducks
- CJ Carr and Mylan Graham - Notre Dame Fighting Irish
- Marcel Reed and Mario Craver - Texas A&M Aggies
- Josh Hoover and Nick Marsh - Indiana Hoosiers
- Darian Mensah and Cooper Barkate - Miami Hurricanes
- Sam Leavitt and Trey'Dez Green - LSU Tigers
- John Mateer and Isaiah Sategna - Oklahoma Sooners
- Jayden Maiava and Tanook Hines - USC Trojans (Honorable Mention)
Many of the duos in the top 10 are new to the scene, with quite a few of the teams acquiring either the quarterback or the receiver included in the ranking through the transfer portal this offseason, including Texas picking up Coleman.
Ranked at the top of the totem pole are Ohio State's Julian Sayin and Jeremiah Smith, one of the few returning duos from last season, as is the fourth-ranked combo of Oregon's Dante Moore and Dakorien Moore (no familial relation).
Making Manning and Coleman's third-place ranking even sweeter was the fact that they were three spots ahead of the Texas A&M Aggies' quarterback and wideout pair: Marcell Reed and Mario Craver, and a far cry ahead of the Oklahoma Sooners' duo: John Mateer and Isaiah Sategna.
One big takeaway from the ranking for every team in the country is the fact that the Miami Hurricanes occupy two of the top 10 spots. With transfer quarterback Darian Mensah joining the Canes from the Duke Blue Devils, he unites with elite wideout Malachi Toney, and he also brought his go-to guy at Duke, Cooper Barkate, along with him.

Of course, just like many of the duos in this top-10 list, Manning and Coleman have yet to be tested in a real in-game situation, but this ranking is a great sign that Sarkisian is doing everything necessary to ensure success for Texas's offense.
Additionally, the Longhorns also picked up elite running back Hollywood Smothers, who joined the depth chart after a breakout year for the NC State Wolfpack, as well as adding both size and experience to the offensive line, which was highly lackluster last season.
To sum all of this up, the Horns should be even more dominant on offense than they have been in recent years, and the combination of Manning and Coleman might just be the cherry on top.
